The Neighborhood Re-Investment Group (NRG) is charged with administering projects and programs on behalf of the City of Waterbury that will enhance the aesthetics, functionality and vitality of the many neighborhoods that make up our city.

NRG currently administers a number of funds received by the City of Waterbury from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Those funds include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), Home Ownership Made Easy (HOME) and Neighborhood Initiative programs.

Along with project and program administration, NRG works with neighborhood based organizations to help them become Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZ) under Connecticut State Statutes. An NRZ with a non-profit status from the IRS has the ability to receive grant funding and become self-sufficient in addressing goals and establishing a future for their neighborhood. NRG assists NRZs in preparing grants and establishing programs, as well as administering projects geared to their particular area.
