Regional Business Investment Fund (RBIF): The Regional Business Investment Fund (RBIF) was developed in an attempt to create and retain jobs in the Central Naugatuck Valley Region. Loan amounts range from $50,000 - $350,000 for any one borrower, although larger loans may be considered in situations involving significant economic benefit. Downtown Development Incentive Fund (DDIF): The Downtown Development Incentive Fund is targeted at businesses committed to locating or expanding in Downtown Waterbury. Commercial developments to include office, retail, restaurant, and entertainment projects are eligible for DDIF benefits. Loans range from $15,000 - $250,000 for any one project, although larger loans may be considered in situations involving significant economic benefit. Forgivable loans may also be considered at the discretion of the WDC. Eligible businesses are commercial investments, with the exception of food and beverage establishments, or industrial in nature. Loans range from $50,000 - $250,000 for any one project, although larger loans may be considered in situations involving significant economic benefit. The Waterbury Enterprise Zone: The Enterprise Zone in Waterbury is the second largest zone in the state of Connecticut. Within its boundaries, businesses can take advantage of a complete package of state and local incentives, electric utility economic development rates, and the generally more affordable rents in these older industrial areas.
