 Waterbury, the fifth largest city in Connecticut, is home to 109,154 residents of diverse ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds (demographics). Conveniently located at the junction of route 8 and interstate 84, the city was once known as the "Brass City" because of its long history as the center of the nation's brass industry. King, The Temptations and Bill Cosby. In 2005, $200,000 of federal funding was granted for preservation of the historic Waterbury City Hall. The city is also planning to undertake a $101.5M school construction project, which will furnish three new elementary schools as well as additions and expansions to our three high schools. These, among countless other projects, have marked the beginning of the revitalization of Waterbury as a center for industry and commerce.
