RIVER BALDWIN RECREATION CENTER

The City of Waterbury received a re-authorized grant from the Connecticut Department of Social Services to complete a renovation and expansion project at the center, which is located at 135 East Liberty Street in Waterbury's south end. Mayor Michael Jarjura and the Diversity Commission have asked the WDC to oversee this project to its completion. The project will consist of a 1,700 square foot addition to the existing facility, which will house 6 private offices, an activity room and a Nurse's station. Renovations will be made to the existing kitchen, activity room, computer room and portions of the buildings exterior, including the roof. This project will help to improve all of the services currently offered at the center. BL Companies of Meriden, Connecticut designed the project; F.B. Matson is the construction contractor. The project budget of $1,100,000.00 was supplemented by an additional $300,000 of CDBG funds. These funds will allow for additional interior and exterior improvements. 

The groundbreaking for the center was held on September 12, 2006.
