WATERBURY ARTS MAGNET SCHOOL
WAMS opened in September of 2004 and is comprised of two components. The school's academic building prominently anchors the corner of East Main Street and South Elm Street. It houses the cafeteria, media center, gymnasium, art rooms, scientific laboratories and traditional classrooms. The school's "hidden jewel", the performing arts building, is not readily visible from East Main Street as it is tucked behind the historic Trott Building and adjacent to the east wall of the Palace Theater. This building houses a 229-seat Apron Stage, a 109-seat Dance Studio, and an 89-seat Recital Hall. The performing arts building is also home to a TV production studio and various band, choral and dance practice rooms.
